Privacy Policy

This policy explains how HayLingo handles personal information when you use the website, courses, and AI learning features.

1. Information collected

We collect account details such as name, email address, password hash, chosen language and CEFR level; learning and subscription information; AI messages and usage counts; session and basic technical data; and voice recordings or live audio when you choose voice features.

2. How information is used

Information is used to create and secure accounts, personalize lessons, enforce trial and plan limits, deliver courses, generate AI text and audio, process support or plan requests, prevent abuse, maintain the service, and meet legal obligations.

3. AI and service providers

Text prompts and relevant lesson instructions are processed by Ollama on HayLingo’s own VPS. They are not sent to an external AI API. Hosting and infrastructure providers process data required to operate the website. Payment providers process billing data when checkout is enabled; HayLingo does not store full card numbers.

4. Voice data

Microphone, transcription and generated voice features are currently disabled while a local speech engine is being prepared. HayLingo does not send voice recordings to an external AI provider.

5. Cookies and sessions

The website uses an essential session cookie to keep you signed in and protect account actions. Disabling it may prevent account features from working.

6. Retention and security

Account and learning data are kept while needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. Reasonable technical controls are used, but no online service can promise absolute security.

7. Your choices and rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, subject to identity verification and applicable legal exceptions. You can stop microphone access through browser permissions and stop using AI voice features at any time.

8. Children, international processing, and changes

The service is not directed to children who cannot legally consent without a guardian. Data may be processed in countries where service providers operate. This policy may be updated as features or legal requirements change.

Privacy questions and data requests should be sent to the site administrator through the same contact channel used for account support.
